What is the cancellation policy? We value the time and dedication of both our tutors and clients. In order to ensure a fair and efficient service, we have established the following no show & late cancellation policy: No-Show Policy: If a client fails to show up for a scheduled tutoring session without providing any prior notice, the client will be charged in full for the session. This policy is in place to compensate our tutors for their time and effort in traveling to meet the client. Cancellation within 24 Hours: If a client wishes to cancel a tutoring session, they must provide a minimum of 24 hours' notice prior to the scheduled start time of the session. How are sessions structured?Because of the dynamic nature of tutoring, each session is customized to meet your specific needs for that meeting. The best way to get an idea of what tutoring sessions will be like is to try us out by signing up for a Trial Session. Generally, a typical session usually begins with a review of the homework assigned in the previous lesson, before moving on to modeling of new techniques and problem types by the tutor. The student is then expected to apply the new techniques to questions with the help of the tutor and to gain further practice through the completion of problem sets assigned for homework as necessary.

How do I get matched with a tutor? Our goal is to ensure that you will be able to work with a single tutor that specializes in your instructional needs for the duration of your tutoring program. While you may choose to vary the days and times of your lessons each week, your meeting location, expected schedule, and academic needs are the most important factors in the matching process. Additionally, since students and tutors spend a great deal of time together, it is very important that they get along! In addition to being great instructors, our tutors are an exceptionally well-rounded group of individuals with a diverse set of backgrounds and interests. We do our best to pair each student with a tutor who shares their interests and has a teaching style that is right for them. We do our best to accommodate requests if the requested tutor is available and is the right fit for your situation.

MEETING ON ZOOM
Before the pandemic made Zoom popular, we were already leveraging it’s usefulness to help students. Since 2018, we have been effectively tutoring students online using the free Zoom platform.

Our tutors use their iPads to screen share a whiteboard through the Notability app and work through problems with students while dialoguing in real-time just like they would in person.

Students send copies or pictures of relevant documents that can be uploaded and annotated on the Notability Whiteboard. These notes are saved and sent to students as a PDF for future reference.

Meeting remotely cuts down travel time for both students and tutors, saving time and energy that can then be used to optimize student learning. This flexibility also allows our students to request sessions and help ad hoc if necessary, in case they are needing some last-minute help before a test or in completing an assignment.
