ACADEMIC COACHING

Study Skills | Organization | Note Taking

Academic Coaching is educational support that helps students develop the skills, strategies, and behaviors necessary to succeed academically. This includes developing time-management and study skills, setting goals, creating action plans, improving understanding of course material, and building motivation and confidence. We make it an emphasis to teach students how to communicate well with their teachers to ensure they are on the same page and progressing appropriately in meeting classroom expectations.

 EXECUTIVE FUNCTIONING

Planning | Progress Reports | Communication

Our Academic Coaches work with students one-on-one while collaborating with parents, teachers, and other school staff to support student learning. We focus on long-term, holistic student support rather than just providing short-term help with specific assignments or exams. Resources that we utilize to develop strong academic habits include daily use of a planner, weekly progress and grade reports, streamlined access to learning management systems to track and complete assignments, and establishing consistent and clear communication practices.

HOW IT WORKS

1. Identify the obstacles
We learn about the student’s workload, routines, strengths, and current challenges.

2. Create a practical system
The coach helps establish a planner, grade-checking routine, assignment tracker, and weekly priorities.

3. Meet consistently
During one-on-one sessions, the student reviews progress, plans upcoming work, studies strategically, and addresses problems before they grow.

4. Build independence
The coach gradually transfers responsibility to the student so the system can continue without constant adult oversight.

Families receive regular session updates describing progress, priorities, and recommended next steps.
